It's funny how a childhood experience can shape your entire life. I guess my journey began in 3rd grade when my teacher decided I wasn't an advanced reader even though my test scores said otherwise. There were two reading groups, the robins and the blue jays, the latter being the lower level reading group. She placed me in the blue jays and did little to notice or accept the fact that I read above average. I had always been an avid reader, when my siblings would play sports outside, I'd have a book in my hand. This decision shook my confidence to the point I was consumed by self doubt even at the tender age of 8. The summer after 3rd grade, I made the decision to improve on my reading skills. I devoured countless books from different genre's and by the beginning of 4th grade I was reading at a 8th grade level. After this reading became my hobby, my escape, my passion, and of course this led me to writing.

When I was a teenager, I began to write short stories. Of course I never let anyone read them, but I wrote although I must admit I rarely completed any one story. My best friend at the time would always joke that my poor characters were always left in whatever situation I stopped writing in. It wasn't until about a year ago that I found myself at a cross-road in my career and having all this extra time I began to write. I dedicated hours upon hours on my story and 3 months after I began to write, The King of Darkness was completed. My stage fright of having even my family read my writing nearly ended my dream of publishing before it started but thankfully, my sister, and close friends encouraged me to follow through. They were the first to read my completed novel and their feedback was nothing but positive. They helped me gain the confidence to proceed with publishing and I haven't looked back since. I owe them everything.

Since my books revolve mostly around romance, with a dark twist, I looked to my dark inspirations to guide me through the hard parts. Edgar Allen Poe, and Stephen King were each responsible for my writing styles. Their darkness and details helped me shape my characters since they had a little celestial help in their journeys. Many may judge me for my idolization of these two literary figures but give my books a chance you'll understand why I do admire these authors.

So now you know where I started, and how I accomplished my passion for writing. Stay tuned for a behind the scene look at each of my works. I'll dissect each character for you...
